Inside, a mesh compartment on the lid holds smaller items like the USB-C charging cable and the silicone pad that ships with the scale. The zip closure keeps everything contained in a bag or backpack. Who needs the case If your Themis Ultra lives permanently on a drip tray at home, the case is not necessary.
