Travelling with glass The BIRD is built around a thick borosilicate glass brew chamber, which makes it fragile in luggage. The soft neoprene Travel Sleeve (sold separately) works for day bags, but if you’re checking luggage or want real impact protection, the hard case is the safer option. The exterior shell absorbs bumps and drops, while the custom-milled foam interior holds the BIRD, its stainless steel pod, and a stack of paper filters snugly in place with no room to shift. The second compartment The other side of the case is an open cavity designed around Weber’s Shorty Bean Cellars. You can fit up to 12 Shorty cellars (enough for nearly two weeks of single-dose coffee), or swap half of them out for a compact hand grinder. This means you can travel with brewer, grinder, and pre-dosed beans all in one case. The inner box dimensions (without foam) are roughly 225 × 285 mm, with the left compartment measuring about 190 × 120 mm, so a small to mid-sized hand grinder should fit. If you’re packing a larger grinder, it’s worth checking dimensions before purchasing.
